What is this item?It is highly recommended that the standard rubber exhaust mounts on any car are replaced periodically. Changing them whilst fitting an exhaust makes perfect sense. If you’re going to change them you may as well fit something decent – like a Powerflex item. It will never perish or elongate so you’ll never have to change it again. Why fit a Powerflex mount instead of a rubber one?
Unlike rubber mounts a Powerflex mount is made from polyurethane. Polyurethane will perform all the necessary duties of an exhaust mount, like absorbing vibrations and noise, but it will not deteriorate, perish or stretch out of shape. It will never disintegrate and fall off – leaving you with an exhaust dragging on the floor! Fitting a mount that will not elongate over time also has the added benefit of holding your exhaust tightly in exactly the right position. This is really important if you want the tail pipe to sit squarely in the centre of the cut-out in the rear bumper. Why are good bushes important for my warrantee?
If you read the small print of any exhaust manufacturers life-time warrantee you’ll see something about maintaining the condition of your exhaust mounts. An old badly stretched rubber mount will allow your exhaust to experience excessive vibration. This, in turn can lead to cracking of the exhaust pipe which will not be covered by the warranty. What applications will this mount fit?
