What does heat wrap do? This product is simply wrapped around exhaust headers or turbos to retain the heat in the gas. Thus reducing under-bonnet temperatures and induction temperatures. Cooler air in the engine bay gives better performance. Why is Thermo-Tec the best? Thermo-Tec wrap is made from a hi-temp fibreglass composite material with a proprietary heat retention coating. Cheaper heat wrap products tend to loose their heat retention properties after a short time. They shrink and become brittle with heat and inevitably unwind themselves. Cool-It wrap can be applied wet – this helps it to conform to tight curves (a fitting guide is included). What size do I need? The two inch tape is better for straighter pipes or long smooth bends, whereas the one inch tape is better suited to tight bends. A 15ft roll is ideal for a turbo or a down pipe. The 50 foot roll is capable of covering most four-branch manifolds. Do I need locking straps? Stainless steel locking ties are a good idea. They are used for securing the ends of the wrap in place (scroll to the bottom of this page for a link). Do I need to coat my wrap? Thermo-Tec wrap can be left as it is, but for the ultimate in protection you can apply Hi-Heat Coating (scroll to the bottom of this page for a link).
