About ‘Redstuff’ padsEver since EBC introduced this ceramic material in 2003, it has been receiving positive write ups from performance car drivers. Redstuff pads have a friction factor of 0.5 (standard road pads have a friction factor of about 0.3, and Greenstuff has 0.46). They offer a significant improvement in brake performance and superb resistance to high temperature brake fade.
Recommended Usage
EBC recommend these pads for medium to heavy weight cars, and/or those with over 200bhp. They’re ideal for fast road & track day use. Short warm-up time and amazing stopping power make them the competition pad that can be used for everyday road use too.
The ‘Warm-up’ Procedure
As you would expect from such a high performance pad Redstuff is designed to operate effectively at higher temperatures. This means that the first use of the brakes in each journey is used to ‘warm-up’ the pads and discs. From there on the pads will remain at their optimum warm temperature.
Kinder to Alloy Wheels
Redstuff pads cut down between 60-90% of the dust common with most performance pads. They are kinder to alloys and allow wheels to look cleaner & shinier for longer.
What’s Included?
Pads are always supplied in front or rear sets. Each set includes four individual pads which are enough for a pair of brake calipers.
Option 1
These pads were usually fitted to the front of early (1991-94) models. They have an overall height of 53mm and have a small metal clip attached to the back. They should not be confused with later (1994-97) pads which are very similar looking, but have a height of 58mm and no metal clip.
Option 2
These pads were usually fitted to the front of models manufactured between 1994 & 1997. They have an overall height of 58mm and should not be confused with earlier (1991-94) pads which are very similar looking, but have a height of 53mm. Pads for earlier models also have a small metal clip attached to the back, whereas pads for later models do not.
Option 3
These pads were usually fitted to the front of 1997 & 1998 models. They are a similar shape to the pads in ‘Option 1’ and ‘Option 2’ but have an overall length of 138mm instead of 128mm.
Option 4
These pads were usually fitted to the front of later models (manufactured between 1997-01). They fit in to calipers that have ‘Subaru’ cast into them.
Option 5
These pads were usually fitted to the rear of all models manufactured between 1991 & 1998. They have an overall length of 108mm and have a small metal clip attached to the back. They should not be confused with later (1998+) UK spec pads which are very similar looking, but have no metal clip.
Option 6
These pads were usually fitted to the rear of later import models (manufactured between 1998-01). They can easily be distinguished by their size which, at 73mm is much shorter than others.
Option 7
These pads were usually fitted to the rear of later UK spec models (manufactured between 1998-01). They have an overall length of 108mm and have no metal clips attached to the back.
