What does a full conversion kit do?This full kit combines a ‘Monster-4’ 4-pot alloy caliper with large two-piece discs to give a significant increase in stopping power. The improved stopping power of the calipers join forces with the greater leverage and heat dissipation properties of the 335mm discs to take braking performance into another league. Fitting these alloy calipers and light weight two-piece discs has the added benefit of reducing ‘unsprung’ weight. This is more important than just loosing weight from the car – loosing unsprung weight means better handling and response from dampers. What is a ‘Monster-4’ caliper? With larger pistons and a pad size 33% bigger than Hi Spec’s ‘Billet-4’ caliper, the ‘Monster-4’ is better suited to medium to heavy weight cars or those with serious power. It is CNC machined from aerospace grade billet aluminium resulting in a super-rigid caliper with almost no flex (a common problem with other alloy calipers). The ‘Monster-4’ also features integral dust seals, internal fluid transfer galleries and a fully anodised finish in a choice of three colours. What’s included? This kit includes a pair of ‘Monster-4’ alloy calipers, a pair of grooved two-piece 335mm diameter vented discs with alloy centre bells (anodised in the same colour as the calipers), a pair of brake caliper relocation brackets and all necessary nuts, bolts and washers. Other items that you will need (but are not included in this kit) are a set of brake pads and braided hose lines. You may also require some brake fluid. Scroll to the bottom of this page for a link to any of these additional items. IMPORTANT NOTE You must check that there is enough space available behind your wheels for the disc and caliper. Two measurements are critical and you should NOT assume they will fit without checking. Firstly, check the spoke clearance. This is the distance horizontally between the inner face of the wheel spoke and the disc face (see the relevant image on this page). You need a minimum of 60mm here. If you don’t quite have 60mm wheel spacers or shims can be used. Secondly, check the internal diameter of your wheel. A minimum diameter of 385mm (15 inches) is required. As a general rule this kit will fit behind most 17 inch alloys and some 16 inch alloys too. About fitting Fitting should always be carried out by a competent individual – preferably a professional engineer. This kit will fit… All Escort Mk5 and Mk6 models (manufactured between 1990 and 2000) including RS2000 models. This kit is not suitable for Escort Cosworth models.
